Braveship: The Leadership for Teo Musso – Between Tradition and Revolution
Braveship is the courage to take a step forward when it would be easier to stay still, to choose transparency when the temptation to wear a mask is strong, to see possibilities where others see limits, to choose the road less travelled even when we fear it.
Innovation cannot be taught, it has to be lived. There is no innovation without the freedom to make mistakes, without the possibility of questioning what has always been done.
From this perspective, diffused leadership is not something merely conceded but a conscious choice, one of autonomy nourished by trust. True change happens when we stop looking for alibis and start taking responsibility for what we can be.
I’m from Florence, more precisely from Fucecchio. I was born in 1977, as authentic as punk itself, and I’m the proud mother of Diego and Cesare. I hold a degree in Business Administration from the University of Pisa and an MBA in International Management from the University of Brighton. My career began as Telesales Manager for IBM in Dublin, then continued at Computer Gross as Credit Manager, leading the ITF Information Technology Finance team and serving as Value Business Manager for the entire IBM portfolio: hardware, software, and services.
In 2014, I was appointed Executive Director, and in 2021, I became CEO of Var Group—not just a company, but a driving force for the future of business, now an international reality. People, innovation, and new organizational models are my passions and the core of my daily work. Maintaining a constant exchange with individuals and organizations that bring value to our country is essential.
Thanks to this experience, over the years I’ve become an Advisory Board Member of Trainect and a Board Member of ASPHI, both committed to improving people’s well-being in their professional and personal lives.
My mantra is: “Challenge limits and step out of your comfort zone.” Walking, trekking, and trail running are not just physical challenges—they are moments of reflection, determination, and personal growth that teach me not to give up in the face of adversity. I bring this same philosophy into my role as CEO, where I believe that investing in people’s well-being and development is the key to creating motivating and harmonious work environments capable of generating collective results.
In the same way, I strive to extend this approach beyond the company. My trip to Madagascar in 2022 inspired me to collaborate with Aid4Mada, supporting educational, healthcare, nutritional, and environmental projects for disadvantaged communities. Personal challenges and social commitment thus merge into a single principle: to face every journey with passion, courage, and the will to create a positive impact on people and society.
Every person's personal and professional life is marked by first time events. There are many moments that have marked my journey. I describe many of these in the book, both positive and negative, and it is the latter that challenge us and force us to think. But here I want to tell you about a few moments that hold a really special place in my heart. You can find out the rest by reading the book.
I published my first book Braveship: an autobiography that tells my story and how the organisational revolution in Var Group came about.
I was the winner of the Microsoft Power Women Award as a female CEO in Tech to inspire other women. This was the year of Var Group's first two international Kick-Offs, in Spain and Germany.
I took the stage of WOBI for the first time in Milan and Madrid to present my organisational revolution.
My first TedX. In Empoli I talked about Ego and smart technologies: survival strategies
